Overall Liking Score (OLS)

“People tend to perform more effectively if they enjoy a positive feeling about their working environment”

The purpose of the OLS is to enable building occupants to provide feedback on how much or how little they like aspects of the building and other factors that affect their working environment. It is used to obtain information on occupant likes and concerns, to identify successful features of a building, or as a ‘key performance indicator’ for maintenance and other facilities management services. The results provide information on which to base informed decisions for improvements, or to identify areas that deserve closer scrutiny before capital expenditure is incurred.

OLS has been used to assess some 30 buildings. The results are used to support the intuitive assessment of experienced facilities managers and have been useful in the reactive investigation of occupant concerns. In a number of cases it has had a fundamental influence on the selection and design of new premises and refurbishment of existing facilities.
